Another day, another valve cover lamp. This day and this lamp started with something slightly different though, a valve cover that’s just a little smaller than the ones I normally use. Up to this point, I had worked with valve covers from V8 engines, which generally employ bigger pistons with shorter strokes. This cover is from an inline 4 cylinder, which had smaller pistons that had long strokes. Functionally, for the engine anyway, that meant more torque but lower potential engine speed. Not great for the highway, but just what you want in a little CJ5. With that little engine-nerd factoid, I made this lamp a little taller than the others (more stroke yeah?), while keeping the footprint narrow to match the shorter valve cover. Just another day, but with a little extra umph.
