By far the longest project I’ve undertaken, this statue has been in process for close to four years. What started as a small bush of worn out coffee grinding burrs in NY; in TX has grown steadily to include more than 150 burrs, stand roughly 40″ tall, and incorporate multiple spinning canopies and flowers. Though less intricate than many of my other works, this statue has a special place in my history. It demonstrates the progression of my abilities and vision over time, as well as perfectly fitting into the concept of rapturous imperfection I so enjoy. Consequently, this piece is dedicated to my former manager at the coffee roastery in NY state. His unwavering support for my crazy welding ideas, and his perpetual supplying of burrs, even after we moved away from NY, made this and so many other projects possible. Thank you Thom, I am grateful to know you and for the opportunity to have worked with you.
