The general work flow in my shop starts when I pick up a part from something and see something else. In the case of these side table lamps however, I started with two lamps that I already liked, but that just seemed like they could be more interesting. Instead of using the milk glass as an accent, I made it the lamp shade, and the lamp bases became petals. I hand bent some 11/16″ steel bar and welded it into two leftover chunks of a jeep engine head. For leaves, I used the hook-jaws from a stack of pipe wrenches that I picked up for parts. I few sections of copper pipe serve to guide the wiring down to the base, and the old is made new again.
