The Bird Killer

They say that to a hammer, everything looks like a nail; I can certainly sympathize.  When I first got my welder set up, every piece of scrap metal I could get my hands on became practice fodder, and it wasn’t long before How I could put things together became as interesting as What I could put together.

This amalgamated eyesore has long been cut up and its parts used on other projects, but it was the first time I welded anything for form instead of just function. A friend of mine who worked on it with me said that we should sell it as yard art and call it “the bird killer,” because if you put it in your yard with all the sharp and jagged edges, it’d be surrounded by dead birds by the end of the day.
