A friend gave me a couple of leftover chunks of cedar that he didn’t need, so I turned a blind eye to my aversion to wood and fired up my chainsaw. The heartwood of this piece was exceptionally close to the edge, and I started thinking about how it made me think of a waterfall. I carved away at the seat, and removed the lower back section to extend that idea. I built a heavy support bracket and screwed in a Model A cam shaft that I had kicking around. I then welded a big drum bearing from a coffee roaster into a Model A spoked rim and stood the cam shaft into the bearing. I poured pigmented epoxy into the cracks of the cedar, and then covered everything with a dozen or so coats of clear bar-top finish.
